United Dictators of Mars - Questions for God

..::.::| LYRICS |.::...:.

Happy for a day. Happy for a day. Happy for a day. Happy for a day yeah.
Happy for a day yeah. Happy for a day. Happy for a day-ay-ay

Sun is out the sky is blue and I got nothin' better to do.
Think I'm gonna' smile today man as things are gonna' go my way.

And when I'm feelin' down gonna' turn it upside down.
Happiness is a state of mind. So I guess I'm gonna' have... I'm gonna have a good time.

::.::| LINER NOTES |.::...:.

Tom Mody song liner notesI needed a groove song- somthing in drop-D tuning that has a little grit and rubs against the other moodier songs and can break thinks up a bit. I slapped this out out pretty quickly and was impressed I could keep it right at 3 minutes... until Jeff edited it down even further so this is clearly the shortest full song I've probably ever written. I had intended to write a few of these types of groove songs for this acoustic project but I veered more towards reworking some older songs than writing new short diddys. I had no expectations that Jeff was going to go all "Happy" on me and particularly in such a minimalist way. But again it's an opportunity to expirment with an odd direction and I think it's played and sung with conviction. However, it just didn't record well. The production doesn't "pop" out at you and though it is a down and dirty feel to the song the production is kind of dead and dirty. This happens every once in a while on a recording and I try to re-track them but it's like a DNA imprint on the song and it's production- new strings, different EQ, whatever... it's been tagged. I know that really isn't the case but I truly did record this a few times doing all different approaches but it's just OK sounding. My kids love it though.

Jeffrey Harris song liner notes

That’s what I’m talkin’ about…in your face get down and groovy with an upbeat attitude that just makes ya wanna turn it up and jam it out with a big ol’ Cajun bayou acoustic style rock’n roll Sammy Hagar happy to be with y’awl sh!t eatin’ grin on your face song!!!!!!! Whoo!! I really enjoyed this song start to finish (could ya tell?) and it is one of my favorites on the CD. Short, sweet and my favorite of Tom’s writing styles currently. Kind of has that QFG version of Heavy Dreams feel (in my opinion) that I also enjoyed. I really dig that rock-a-twang thing he has introduced to UDM! Simple as it is, this song was tremendously fun to write, sing and review. To me, it is a song that stands out and has all the ingredients necessary to captivate every red blooded human being wishing to pump up to a tune Friday after work and get motivated for the weekend. The song is definitely not too long but just short enough possibly to leave the audience hungry for just a little bit more…H4ADII? Perhaps…
